Our Story

Millmerran Rural Clothing prides itself on bringing quality country and every-day clothing at affordable and competitive prices.

Since 2004, Garth and Jan Fitzgerald have been providing important services to Millmerran and surrounding communities. With Garth’s lifelong interest in cattle and Jan’s keen interest in Real Estate, the purchase of Millmerran Rural Agencies at 31 Campbell Street, was a natural step for Garth and Jan, having both grown up in local rural areas. In September 2005, the Fitzgerald’s purchased the vacant land at 71 Campbell Street with the vision for expansion, which is now home of the purpose-built shop front seen today.

As a mother of four boys, Jan recalls sewing clothes for her family and had a dream to set up space in the shop to sew. Balancing work and family commitments, coupled with a boom in real estate, Jan left her vision on the back burner for several years.

On the 26th November 2018, the new premises opened trading as Millmerran Rural, which includes Livestock, Real Estate and the realisation of Jan’s dream – the expansion to Clothing.  The Millmerran community has well-received the clothing offering as a much-needed service.   This is confirmation of the confidence that the Fitzgerald’s have in small country towns.

Garth and Jan’s son Jason (who is a carpenter), joined the family business in 2011 as the Livestock and Rural Sales Manager.   His wife Jo joined the team in 2018 as the Clothing Manager.  Millmerran Rural employs a full-time Property Manager Kerry, who has been an integral team member since opening in 2004. Our other staff include Bibi, Mandy, Melissa, and Deb, who assist the team.

Millmerran Rural Clothing is passionate about allowing you to “Go back to your roots, to remember the stories, the moments of how you feel and felt living and working on the land.  Your Lifestyle, Our Passion. Live it, Feel it, Wear it!”

They do this through providing quality Clothing, Workwear, Latest Fashion, Footwear, Surfwear, School Uniforms and Back-to-School items, Accessories, Children’s Wear, Giftware and Essential items. With well-known brands such as Ariat, Pure Wester, Thomas Cook, Wrangler, Akubra, Hard Slog, Just Country, Roper, Sunbody, Twisted X, Big Country Toys, Pilbara, Ritemate and Bonds - there is something for everyone.

Millmerran Rural Clothing is known for combining city to the country and bush to the beach with the same comfort and durability as their workwear.

Millmerran Rural Clothing can source special orders upon request and go out of their way to ensure your purchase is as seamless and enjoyable as possible. Embroidery options are also available.

What sets Millmerran Rural Clothing apart is their pride in strong family values together with good old-fashioned customer service that you can rely upon and trust. So much so, that they are prepared to provide a shopfront in a regional town when many stores are closing.

“We are committed to support and serve our community.”

Customer satisfaction is paramount. The team enjoys the fact that the locals visit the store not just for clothing but also for personal contact, connection and conversation.

Millmerran Rural Clothing is known for their good will and the importance that they place on supporting their customers to ensure they are happy and satisfied with their purchases. The team is known to go over and above their customer’s expectations just to make their customer’s day and they have built a strong rapport with the local community.  This is evident when they order sets of pyjamas for some of the local elderly gentlemen, so that they don’t have to travel for necessities.

“We are resilient and provide a service to our local community through our strength, commitment and values.”  “We refer to ourselves as a Gum Tree – we have strong family roots, achieved growth in an environment that others would never consider.”

“Tough times never last, but tough people do.” Robert Schuller.

Recently, Nikki, a well-known member of the community said, “We are so incredibly lucky to have such affordable variety right here in Millmerran. To not have to drive to Toowoomba is a great thing and I would like to give a big shout out to the Fitzgerald’s for their investment in our community.”
